January 2021 League Meeting (Zoom)

2021 Season Prep: 
-Intro of 2021 Board Members.
-Discussed 2021 Budget and By-laws.

All board meeting will resume on November 5 as to not interrupt the season practices.

July 2, 2020  ZOOM meeting due to covid-19

-  Cheer will perform but NO STUNTING during the 2020 season.
-  Flag will play home and away games.  Kindergarten teams must be added to the 1st and 2nd grade teams.
-  Photo day will be done with no team pictures due to covid-19


June 4, 2020 - ZOOM Meeting due to covid-19

Season will go on for the 2020 year.  All attendees must be temperature checked and checked off on a daily list
-  All coaches and players must submit to temperature check at every game, no exceptions.
- Concession stand will only sell bottled, canned or packed food and drink.
- Only one parent per practice and only 2 parents per game until covid-19 restrictions chancge.

May 7, 2020 

Covid-19 status is red, no meeting.  The CMYFA Board decides via emails:

  • If there is no season or partial season CMYFA will refund registrations in full for no season and meet to determine a fair amount if there is only a partial season.  
  • 6th grade members who paid registration in full will receive a year end jacket regardless if there is a season or not.
  • If fans are not permitted at games in 2020 SHYFL will not have a season
  • March and April, 2020 no meetings due to covid-19


    Feb 6, 2020 

  •  It is mandatory for ALL HEAD COACHES (tackle , flag and cheer) to work just ONE entire Saturday at the field.  
  • When a member quits they will only receive the registration fee back, They will still pay for and receive our fundraiser lotto tickets.
  • As per the SHYFL league we joined, there is no minimum play rule for tackle football.  CMYFA coaches will always try to play every player every game.

    • New board meeting date is 1st Thursday of every month.
    • CMYFA By-Laws read for review.  
    • Motioned By-Lay changes for February.  Tackle football play limits.  If a player quits no return of lotto fundraiser. No other changes suggested. 
    • New board members will shadow Board as to learn and fill the position for 2021.

    November 27, 2019 

    • SHYFL declares that teams must be evenly spilt.  Teams that are not evenly split in 2020 may forfeit the playoffs.  If the SHYFL decides teams are not split evenly the can force the teams to create roster changes mid season. 
    • CMYFA would like to get all board positions to have a shadow person as to take over the job in 2020.
    • CMYFA discussed the flag season and creating a 1st and 2nd grade only team.  If we have enough kindergarten players they will have their own team.  
    • CMYFA will fight the Schuts helmet bill until the company can tell us why we didn't get our helmets in time for the season or why we did not get every helmet returned.
    • December meeting cancelled due to the date.  CMYFA will approach NSP about new meeting date.

    July 24, 2019 

    • Decisions on what do to if our equipment doesn't arrive in time for the season.  Helmets are lost currently by Schutts Company.
    • Finalizing the flag teams and tackle teams practice schedules at McDowell Fields.
    • Board meetings suspended until after the season.

    • Draft rules and how teams need to be drafted discussed.

    May 29, 2019 

    • Monthly meetings moved to the 4th Wednesday of every month as to permit Board members to go to SHYFL meetings
    • Flag will play in a travel league and depending upon final numbers have 4 or 5 teams
    • A mini-camp will be held for tackle players on July 9 and July 10 as to have the draft on July 11th.  Then cheer teams can be split accordingly.
    • Concession stand will have new faucets added and garage door to equipment/ATV  room fixed.

    April 24, 2019 

    • The process for selected head coaches was read, along with the process of how to split teams.
    • Registration will remain open as to attract as many players as possible.
    • CMYFA ATV will go up for sale due to lack of use.
    • Teams will be decided upon the May SHYFL meeting.  Flag teams possibly will travel.

    March 13, 2019 

    • By a vote of 12-1 by eligible CMYFA voting members, the decision to leave the WGYFL and move to the South Hills Youth Football League was made.   The primary reason was to play our local neighbors in who we will also play at the high school level.  Other deciding factors were less travel, Saturday only games, and no admission fees for any games which per family is a big cost saver for CMYFA.   Another big factor was splitting teams as to permit all our players to perform in real meaningful regular season games and not JV games that didn't count.
    • SHYFL  promised to not turn away any player who is overweight .   
    • Costs of registration for all groups will go up $25 only.  Still less than the $4 per adult price per game all season long. 
    • Possibility of our flag teams playing against Mt. Lebanon flag teams.

    February 13, 2019 

    • CMYFA is discussing with Upwards Flag league about possible games vs. each other.   
    • WGYFL  moved their board meeting to Jan 28th.  Decisions to make depend upon the vote for change to community participation. 
    • Attempting to send out flyers to schools again for April registration.
    • 6th grade recognition games will be scheduled for last home games of the season.
    • Photo day with TSS Photography August 10th.  Pool party August 11th.

    January 17, 2019 

    • CMYFA begins new fiscal year with $5,807.90 in bank account.  
    • WGYFL makes a notion for voting in February for change to community participation.  Rule to be voted on states that communities must split at every division or only one team per division.   CMYFA discussed the approaches to take if we are only permitted one team per division.  Early talks included "minimum plays per player" depending upon how the WGYFL vote goes.
    • CMYFA will reach out to flag church leagues to see if interest in playing our flag teams exist.

    December 12, 2018: 

    Voting of 2019 Canon Mac Youth Football Association Board.  They are:

    • CMYFA will perform the budget for 2019 and discuss at the January meeting.  
    • January's meeting will be to update the current CMYFA by-laws.  Submission for changes must be before the meeting by using our email on our web site. 
    • Purchases and upgrades for 2019 were discussed.  New lock for equipment room, New sink for concession stand, bows and socks for cheer, new game pants for football.

    November 14, 2018: 

    • Open 2019 Board positions for votes are: President, Treasurer, Athletic Director, Finance Coordinator and Event Coordinator.  The positions of Cheer Coordinator and Secretary will be added to the Associate Board.
    • Discussions were made about growing flag from kindergarten through 3rd grades having two divisions of K-1 and 2-3.  If not enough players participate we would resort back to only K-2, offering the 3rd graders tackle. 
    • Discussions were made about seeing if flag could play in the South Hills league to play against opponents.  We will reach out to South Hills to see if there is any interest.
    • Discussions were made about making a 6 play mandatory play rule in games again.  The discussion of JV games also was mentioned in that if there was a JV game played on the same day coaches would not have to abide by the 6 play mandatory rule.  This discussion will remain open until we find out about other leagues and/or once registration is completed in April.
    • Registration will be from April 1 through April 7th only!

    • All vounteer duties will be on Sign Up Genius web site.  Each family will have to volunteer a total of 4 hours.
    • All members whether flag, tackle or cheer will all have to volunteer except head coaches. 
    • Flag will play and practice on the top field.  Tackle will play and practice on the bottom field.
    • Only the mandatory lotto fundraiser is needed this season.

    June 13, 2018: 

    • All interested coaches were interviewed for head coaching positions by CMYFA Board members.
    • Flag football rules were read and discussed.
    • Cheer 4th of July plans were finalized.
    • The July meeting will be the last CMYFA Board meeting until the season ends.

    May 10, 2018: 

    • Flag football has the numbers and was discussed at length to attendees.  Teams, season and coaching principles. 
    • Cheer will be split and some grades advanced as to make even teams.  Siblings will stay with teams as to prevent excess travel for parents.
    • Cheer will participate in the same manner at flag games as they do at tackle games.
    • Discussed coaching process, background checks, certification courses.

    April 12, 2018: 

    • Early registration numbers indicate there may not be enough interest for fall flag football 
    • Chris Midilli won bid for press box improvements. Improvements include new door, new locks, new wipe board, removal of mold and repainting, add bench to wall and non-stick surface for steps.   
    • Approved purchase for new heat lamps for snack stand.

    March 14, 2018: 

    • Cheer important dates: Fittings May 17th 5:30 to 8:30, Camp June 20-22, Otto's Fundraiser April 27th 
    • Volunteers will sign in at concession stand this season.

    February 14, 2018: 

    • 2018 registration fees decided. 

             Tackle Football will be $150. Flag football will be $50.  Cheer will be $75. 

    • Every member will pay a mandatory $50 for the lotto fundraiser. 
    • Flag football will pay $4 at the door when their are home tackle football games.
    • Suggested interest into purchasing a 5 man youth sled.

    January 17, 2018: 

    Meeting was held at Otto's due to North Strabane building not being available.  All future meetings will be the second Wednesday of every month at 7 pm at the North Strabane Municipal building in 2018 with the exception of July when the room will not be available.  

    • 2018 CMYFA By-Laws discussed and passed. 
    • CMYFA changed the policy and behavioral guidelines in which a parent or guardian must now sign off on our form upon equipment hand out to be informed of all the policies and behavioral guidelines. 
    • Cost for registration will be $75 for cheer and $100 for football plus a mandatory $50 fundraiser fee for 2018.  The flag football league is still under discussion and costs will be deiced at the next meeting.
    • Profit share from WGYFL to each team is $3,270.00.

    December 13, 2017: 

    Voting of 2018 Canon Mac Youth Football Association Board.  Winners are:

    Associate Board for 2018:  Events Coordinator Terri Nowakoski, Finance Coordinator Matt Singleton, High School Head Coach Mike Evans.

    • Football equipment will now be purchased from Shutts and not Riddell as to compare with the middle school and high school programs.
    • CMYFA will perform the budget for 2018 and discuss at the January meeting as to lower costs to both football and cheer programs. 
    • January's meeting will be to update the current CMYFA by-laws.  Submission for changes must be before the meeting by using our email on our web site.

    November 8, 2017: 

    • After spending 2017 season with a few empty board seats, Executive Board decides to eliminate the Secretary and Cheer Coordinator positions.  Concession Coordinator is no longer a Board position and will be divided into 3 collaborate positions. 
    • Open 2018 Board positions for votes are: Vice President, Athletic Director, Finance Coordinator and Event Coordinator
    • In 2018 the Division 3 level ( kindergarten, first and second grades) will have tackle and flag football to choose and participate in.  Depending on the enrollment numbers, CMYFA will look into either having a flag league in which we play stand alone, or having to join another league to be able to participate in flag and/or tackle football.

    • New gold football pants will be purchased as to have all teams match.
    • Pool Party will be August 5th. Photo day will be August 12th.
    • All vounteer duties will be on Sign Up Genius web site.  Each family will have to volunteer a total of 4 hours.
    • Night at The Races fundraiser food will be from Hogfathers. Event to be held at the Washington Fiargrounds on October 7th.

    • Cheer outfits for the 4th of July parade are approved for purchase.
    • New portable fenicing purchased for home games at McDowell.
    • Cheer practice ground pads and football tackling rings approved for purchase.
    • Head football coaches for football and cheer approved.
    • Scholarshipos approved pn a case by case request.

    May 10, 2017: 

    • CMYFA 12U football and cheer programs ended.  12 year olds will simply join middle school programs.
    • Cheer uniforms are chosen and approved.  Uniform fittings will be June 1st at NSP municipal building. 
    • Football jerseys are chosen and approved.  Riddell will be the supplier.  Reversible jerseys will be purchased by the families at $50 per jersey.
    • CMYFA will not purchase an additional scoreboard as numbers indicate there will only be one team per division.

    April 12, 2017: 

    • Cheer will have a fundraiser at West Pike Bowling on May 19th to raise money for purchase of parade gear. 
    • Additional meetings with CM High Scholl Head Coach Mike Evans to decide the fate of the 12U CMYFA programs.
    • Washington Fairgrounds selected as site of the Night of the Races fundraiser on October 7th.
    • Old shoulder pads donated to smaller WGYFL teams at no cost to them.  They agree to scrimmage us at CM during the season. Fundraising ideas submitted: car wash, flight trampoline, Otto's Pub and LuLa Rue event.
    • Kim Rash named Concession Coordinator for 2017.

    February 8, 2017: 

    • Cheer updates included high school cheer squads as choreography camp instructors, 4th of July parade spirit wear, cost of new cheer uniforms and liquidation of old cheer uniforms.
    • 2017 CMYFA By-laws voted on and approved.
    • Kick-off party, NATR fund raiser, and photo dates chosen.  Events Coordinator to begin process of securing venues.
    • Football jerseys will be purchased by parents and not CMYFA.  Players will keep jerseys, goal is to keep costs of jersey around $50.  
    • Meeting with High School Football Coach Mike Evans continues about possible 12U program dissolved into the middle school. Decision to be made by April 1st, 2017.

    Introduction of new CMYFA Board Members

    Discussion of CMYFA By-Law changes to be voted on in February

    • Adding IRS 503 status
    • Change registration fees to be $25 less per registration, $50 less if member uses early bird option.  
    • Change to refund policy to be less $15 for processing fees.
    • Changes to the Executive Board; Cheer Director to Executive Board and Secretary to Associate Board.
    • Change Zero Tolerance Policy; remove the word offense and change to level.
    • Removal of scholarships.

     
    Motion of new amendments:

    • Members missing games with out prior approval can be disciplined by head coaches.  Sitting out 1st quarter for example.
    • No players to play up or down.
    • Playing times for football changed to 8 play minimum with an emphasis to play the first half.

    December 15, 2016, Thursday: 

    Voting of 2017 Canon Mac Youth Football Association Board.  Winners are:

    Executive Board For 2017:  President David Rossi, Vice President Dan Glass, Treasurer Eric McMahon, Cheer Director Meghan Merigo and Athletic Director Dave Blom.

    Associate Board for 2017:  Cheer Coordinator Traci Stoneking, Secretary Chris Midili, Events Coordinator Terri Nowakoski, Finance Coordinator - Matt Singleton.

    • Bids for construction work to the equipment room were reviewed and Cuzzins Construction LLC was awarded the job.  Work will begin in January to place a fenced gate in the equipment room to ensure the security of our CMYFA equipment. 
    • It was motioned to hire an outside accounting firm to proceed with a financial audit of the last five seasons of CMYFA and the Lil Macs.  It was voted down 4-1.  
    • January's meeting will be to update the current CMYFA by-laws.  Submission for changes must be made at the meeting or by using our email on our web site.

    July 21, 2016

    • CMYFA will use caution tape to section off top field to not permit fans from entering with out paying for all WGYFL games.  
    • All volunteer duties will be run through free website called Sign Up Genius and monitored by head coaches.   
    • Finances will be monitored and emailed weekly to all board members as to admission fees and concession profits.  
    • Any emergency and/or important matters will be handled by the Board on a as needed basis during the season. 
    • Voted and approved to not hold any more CMYFA Board meetings until the football season had ended.

    • Financial Report – CMYFA has $731. 08 in bank account.  Very little transactions this time of the year.

    • Merger of G10 into the Washington Greene Youth Football League discussed.

      Notable changes are:

                   Children from Kindergarten to 6th grade will participate in the WGYFL  
                   Children from 7th grade will participate in the Parkway league 
         
    NEW Age & Weight Groups

    WGYFL - Kindergarten, 1std and 2nd grades Division: Skill weight limit 75, No max weight limit

    WGYFL - 3rd and 4th grades Division:  Skill weight limit 100. No max weight limit

    WGYFL - 5th and 6th grades Division: Skill weight limit 120, No max weight limit

    Parkway league - 7th grade Division:  160lbs max weight limit

    Players in the WGYFL will weigh in only ONCE at the beginning of the season.
    The WGYFL does not have a team roster limitation nor player play count rule. CMYFA will play every player.
    All Cheer teams must participate in the WGYFL cheer competition which is a cheer recognition day.
    Under WGYFL rules, there is a $4 admission fee to enter games for the day for adults.  Children, players and coaches are free.
    There is no admission fee for the Parkway league.
    Every football and cheer coach must be 21 or over and must pass all clearances to be permitted to coach.  Please click on COACHING on this web site for details.
